How we can help

Protecting your loved ones with a personalized estate plan unique to your family’s needs.

Most people come to us with one of three questions: “What happens to my family if something happens to me?”, “Someone died — now what?”, or “How do I set up my business?” Each one has a clear path. We map it out at the first meeting, tell you what we need from you, and give you a realistic sense of timing before any work begins.

What we handle

Three focused areas of practice.

Estate Planning

Decide now who gets what, who makes decisions if you can’t, and who looks after your children — so the people you leave behind aren’t left guessing.

  • Wills (testaments)
  • Trusts, including children’s trusts, grandchildren’s trusts, spendthrift trusts, and special needs trusts
  • Powers of attorney
  • Advance healthcare directives, also known as a living will
  • Estate planning for business owners, including using an LLC or other business entity as an estate planning tool
  • Planning for parents with minor children, blended families, and parents with disabled children
  • Plan reviews after marriage, divorce, or a new child

Successions & Probate

When someone passes, Louisiana requires a succession before property, accounts, and vehicles can move to heirs. We prepare the filings, deal with the court, and tell you what to expect next.

  • Succession (probate) proceedings
  • Judgments of possession
  • Small and simple estates

Business Formation

Starting something? We help you pick the right entity, file it correctly with the Louisiana Secretary of State, and put the basic agreements in place before problems come up.

Louisiana is different

Louisiana plays by its own rules.

Louisiana is the only U.S. state whose private law is rooted in the civil law tradition. Its vocabulary and procedures differ from the rest of the country: probate is called a succession, and a will is called a testament. Out-of-state templates and online forms often miss these differences, which is why it pays to have documents drafted under Louisiana law.

Common questions

Quick answers.

General information only. Every situation is different, so the best answers come from a conversation about yours.

Who needs an estate plan?

Almost every adult benefits from some planning. A testament, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives help make sure your wishes are known and that the people you trust can act for you if needed. Plans are especially important for parents, property owners, and business owners.

What is a succession in Louisiana?

A succession is Louisiana’s legal process for settling a person’s estate after death, which other states call probate. It generally involves identifying heirs or legatees, addressing debts, and transferring property. We prepare the filings and walk heirs through what happens next.

What should I bring to my meeting?

Please bring a form of ID, your completed worksheet, and any documents the worksheet requests.

Do you work with small businesses?

Yes. We are a one-stop shop for new and existing owners. We form LLCs and corporations, draft articles of incorporation and articles of organization, draft operating agreements, and plan for what happens to the business down the road.

What areas do you serve?

Our office is on Line Ave in Shreveport, and we work with clients throughout Caddo, Bossier, and the surrounding parishes.
